That is some good advice for newbies. Definitely use isolator pads, I don't think that anyone stresses enough how much difference they can make in the sound quality.

Regarding the use of an external DAC, there is a long debate on this and you'll find many audiophile forums debating this in great length.

If you're getting a good quality external DAC, like the Chord Mojo DAC (which also has an internal amplifier) that featured in the video (300$+ cost), yes definitely, go for it. Best pair it with a very good set of speakers and a subwoofer and the sound difference can be monumental.

That said, the internal DAC of Mac is perfectly capable managing most of everyday tasks and competes very well with most cheap external DACs like the dragonfly, that is advertised on the video, but that comes down to personal opinion.

Personally I think that investing on a high-end wired set of headphones/active speakers would actually make more difference in the sound quality you're receiving than a cheap external DAC.

More stuff. :)

Great bit of applied science. How Sound Works in rooms.

My Sound system broke :( The charging electrics on it was a bit iffy after a 10yr layoff. After a month or so of shake rattle and roll, it ended up shake apart and broke :(

Been researching the next realistic options, and came across this You Tube demo.
