I just replaced my MacBook Air with a MacBook Pro Retina and I am going to transfer my Air to my wife. She had an Air, (same model and up to date mountain lion operating system as mine except smaller SSD), but she had an accident and her Air died an unnatural death. It does not run any longer and we are not going to spend the money to fix it.

I want to set up my old Air for her. She has been doing regular time machine backups to our Time Capsule. Should I wipe my Air clean somehow, reinstall the operating system and then restore her time machine back up to the machine? Will that do the trick? If so, how do I wipe my Air and reinstall the OS? Other suggestions?

Lastly, how hard is it to remove and replace the screen assembly on a 2011 Air? The screen on the machine I am giving her has some scratches but her old screen is perfect. Could I swap them? Can I do it myself?
