Yesterday I tried to make a payment in Safari but when using the AutoPayment or selecting my card details from the bottom of the screen the payment details were incorrect. The card number was saved but the expiry dates were incorrect using an old card.

When I then tried to access my card using ‘Settings/AppleID/Payment Details’ I was automatically sent to the Apple Music App.
Whilst there my card details though still came up.
However, no matter how many times I edit the card by updating the expiry dates, the next time I try to make a payment the saved details always revert back to the old card expiry details.

So…. Two questions.
1. Why does it automatically jump to the Apple Music App?
2. Why are my card details expiry dates never updated?

I have tried this on both my iPhone & iPad Pro both using the latest current software updates.

Thank in advance.

I have the same problem with Apple Music popping up. Safari stores the credit card info it uses in its own app storage space which is different than the Settings/AppleID...location — this why changing one expiration date doesn’t change the other.

Thank you, finally someone has the decency in replying.
This error is annoying and I am surprised no one else but yourself has noticed this error.
You are quite correct in that if you go to Settings/Safari/Autofil/Saved Credit Cards the details are saved. Yet when you click on a link requiring payment it ignores the Safari saved and lunches Music bringing up the AppleID saved settings which NEVER get saved despite inputting the details over and over again.

I ran into this myself today, thought not having to deal with Safari.

I wanted to update the card info associated with my Apple ID which I can normally do through settings and found it kept opening Music. I can make changes there and the changes are reflected on appleid.Apple.Com, but I’ve never had it open Music before. Is that something new in iOS 16.

For your question, the Payment & Shipping settings never had anything to do with Safari autofill. It was only for updating the cards on the Apple ID account. The autofill cards are saved in the Safari settings.

Except in my case when making a payment in Safari the saved credit card details are ignored in what is saved in Safari. It refuses to use the correct expiry date details but instead then launches Music where I then have to repeatedly keep adding the correct expiry dates.

I experienced this too on my brand new iPad mini 6. Went to payment and shipping and it’ll automatically open Apple Music. Added my card details and shipping address there and lo and behold my card details were missing when I went to purchase iCloud+. Shipping address remained though so guess it’s just the credit card field that’s the issue.

Went to update my iOS and everything works now.
