I know there were launch-window issues with the Retina Display having yellow splotches; these went away if you just waited for the glue to dry.

Well, this is a several-month-old iPhone that's been working just fine, only in the past couple of days it's developed a big yellow-tinted line (about the thickness of a pencil, and about 3/4 of an inch long) running down part of the left side of the display. Any idea what could be causing this on an older unit? Can the glue actually re-melt somehow, and if it's that, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Back up your data to your computer and have Apple replace it. It's most likely a manufacturing defect and covered under warranty.

Just show the manager at the apple store and he/she will replace it. That's what I love about apple. No fuss. They do the right thing when one of their products has defects.
