Severe misophonia: this rare condition has me avoiding FineWoven cases at all costs. Anyone else with this condition?

It's safe to say nearly 100% of human population hate the sound of nails on a chalkboard. Even just reading those words makes my skin crawl.

When I first saw pictures of the case, I had only one concern: how will it feel/sound when I run my fingertips along the back of the case?

Besides nails on a chalkboard, there's one more sound/sensation that makes my skin crawl: fingertips on a mousepad, a vinyl record, a 90's nylon windbreaker, and other surfaces with a similar feel.

And that's exactly how the back of a FineWoven case sounds and feels. Gives me severe misophonia. Anyone else with this rare condition?

I'm having, like, some kind of PTSD event just by reading that description. But yeah, I'm with you... I fully expected the case to sound more or less like that and I'm having a VERY HARD TIME buying into the hype that it will feel like suede. Suede doesn't looks like that. Doesn't sound like that. I'm pretty sure it will feel more like a linen tablecloth, and if that's one's thing, have at it. Thankfully, Apple doesn't get to mandate what I use.

I've yet to see one positive review. I packed mine up to go back so fast. I don't suffer from this condition thankfully but the case is straight garbage anyway.

As someone who held it in my hand, it does not look, feel or sound like suede.

I've yet to see one positive review. I packed mine up to go back so fast. I don't suffer from this condition thankfully but the case is straight garbage anyway.

I ordered one and will be sending it back as well. Not impressed.

Their environmental stance...I get it. But the problem is with that seems to be coming a sacrifice to quality (which also comes with the same, and sometimes, increased cost. Same or more cost for lesser quality is unacceptable in my opinion). I won't pretend to know what a solution would be, but there HAS to be a way to make something that meets their environmental goals without also being a crap product. I was interested in the FineWoven watch bands and was considering ordering one, but then my case showed up. I won't be purchasing one of those watch bands.

Apple makes a LOT of money on accessories, but if they're going to sacrifice this hard on quality, I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose a chunk of that to someone else. I know I'm one person and my purchases are barely a blip on their radar, but I was all-in on pretty much everything Apple, all the way down to accessories. After this, I will be looking elsewhere for accessories.

I also have yet to see one positive review. Makes me wonder what's next for FineWoven if it's really going to be this unpopular...are they going to double down on it? Or admit a mistake and find something that is better but also satisfies their environmental goals?

FW case makes the butterfly keyboard look like a work of art.

I am starting to believe Apple made this case just to see if there is anyone who would defend literally anything they manufactured. Only logical reason I can see for it to exist.

yup. first and last year of Finewoven, at the very least they might attempt a Finewoven 2.0, but they would probably do well to abandon this mistake altogether.
