Several times a day my phone exhibits bizarre WiFi issues where it either doesn’t connect or the speed is severely throttled. None of my other WiFi connected devices including my iPads show this problem and updating my phone didn’t solve the issue either. Could this be a hardware related problem? I never experienced anything like this before.

If you use it, try turning off iCloud Private Relay and see wether it improves. Additionally check your router's wifi settings, as well as wether firmware updates are available.
