I wanted to give a shout out to Chris and Gary at this San Francisco based company for their awesome customer service and products.

I live in Canada and wanted to buy a Suede Jacket Sleeve for my new 13" MacBook Air. Shipping up to Canada was quoted as $20 which almost doubled the price of the cover, and since I'm going to be visiting San Francisco in a couple weeks I asked if they have an actual physical store. They said no, but I should choose FedEx Ground Service for $7 and leave a note in the "Special Instructions" and they'd ship it First Class International.

I received the shipment confirmation email a few days ago, and they told me they were able to reduce shipment down even further to $4. I thought that was just amazing customer service. Firstly they let me choose the cheaper U.S. only shipping option even though it was an international shipment, and then they reduced it even further.

Anyway, check out their products. They have some really nice stuff.

I had one a while back but didn't like that the laptop compartment wasn't padded. I had to be very careful setting my back down to avoid denting my laptop.

I've bought a number of bags & sleeves from Waterfield. They have excellent customer services, their products are very good, last a long time, & feel premium. Furthermore, Waterfield always put in extra effort with little "extras" like personalized thank you notes & so on to make me feel like a very special customer! I'm sure other Waterfield customers have all had similar experiences. :)

How much padding to their sleeves have? Is it more than other brands? Is their stuff inherently more protective than say something like a hard shell candy or a booq vyper, or does it just look better?

Let's be honest--macbooks dent like crazy, and an incredibly protective case is needed. Mine has dented while inside a case and inside my backpack before. Very disappointed in that.

I'm pretty sure that most of their bags don't have a special 'laptop compartment'. They might be made to the right size, but they're designed to have little padding so that you can use your own case or sleeve. They clearly state that on their website.

SF Bags

I had one of their Laptop SleeveCases for my 2010 13" MBA and it provided excellent protection on a recent 3 week trip where the MBA lived in my backpack. Of course, it is thicker than the Suede Jacket but I think it's a good trade-off.

The past tense part above relates to the 2010 MBA, not the SleeveCase, which I liked so much that I kept it for my incoming 2011 MBA!

:D

Similar experience with SF Bags here. I have several of their products with which I'm very happy. Great customer service too, plus all their products are made in the US.

I have a Vertigo bag and SleeveCase for my Macbook Pro. They are pretty much made for each other, the Vertigo doesn't have a lot of padding, but with the sleeve case it essentially creates a new padded pocket for my MBP.

The bag itself is really nice though, the nylon still looks like new even after taking it with me all the time for the past year. Also the zipper is very high quality and feels like it will last forever.

Since I liked that one so much I ended up ordering a Macbook Air Travel Express for my upcoming 11" MBA. I was just told the color I wanted was out of stock, but it should just a few days before they can ship it. Their customer service is awesome and their products are great.

Just an fyi for anyone else looking to order from these guys soon, they are evidently getting slammed pretty hard by lots of MBA case orders right now. They said it will take a few days at a minimum before they can even begin to catch up with the level of demand. Doesn't bother me at all and I ordered regardless but if you need something very soon you might want to look elsewhere.

I am embarrassed at my waterfield addiction. I have two of their bags and numerous sleeves and covers...great stuff - I will not go anywhere else....

Best bag available in my opinion.

I have the 11 air horizontal bag with strap and leather trim. I love the padding this bag provides.

I just placed my order yesterday night and it is already shipped

How is the padding compared to a hardshell case--booq vyper, hard candy bubble sleeve, thule case. Those are the ones that I have seen before (except the booq).

I'm skeptical of the level of protection unless it's a hard sleeve?

I purchased a MacBook Air Travel Express bag with strap for my new MacBook Air 2011 11". I live in England so with shipping costs and import taxes it wasn't a cheap purchase but it was well worth it. Very solid build and the plastic lining on the outer edges of the case help against accidental knocks. Nice amount of pockets inside to store additional peripherals. As well as my MacBook Air I often carry around my iPad in the main compartment between the pockets if I'm traveling and just want to watch a movie or do some light browsing.

I also own a WaterField suede jacket sleeve for my iPad and iPhone.

I agree. I ordered an air wallet last week and was told that it was not going to ship till August! But they emailed me and were very nice about it. This is my first purchase with them and I believe that I will be happy with it!

Will do a full review when I receive it.

huge fan of gary and his staff. great products and even better service. i have bought several products from them over the last seven or eight years and i have been pleased with every one. i can't say enough good things about the quality!

I wish I'd have thought of that. I ordered a sleeve last weekend but sent it to my mate in LA for him to ship it up to me in Canada. Hopefully I'll get it sometime next week. I nearly bought the Knomo leather case today in the Apple store; beautiful bag but I wish they had one in black.

In the past, I purchased the suede sleeve for my 11.6 Air. It has been great so far and I have had no issues. It arrived when it was supposed to and it has held up well over the last 8 months.

So, with that in mind, I decided that I needed a new laptop bag and I ordered the 11" Muzetto black/green bag on Sunday last week from SFbags.com. On the site it said that the next production of the bags wouldn't be until Aug 15. That was fine with me. I have heard how great the Muzetto (see YouTube reviews) was and I was willing to wait. Then, on Thursday, just 4 business days later, the FedEx guy delivers my new black with green trim Muzetto. Amazing! Like many/all others, I even got the little had written note thanking me for my purchase.

Let me just say that I am very happy with the bag. Yes, it was very expensive compared to any previous laptop bag I have ever owned but the build quality is amazing and I must say that it looks really nice. Also, it holds my 11.6 Air, my iPad and the chargers with no problem. (Admittedly all that gets sort of heavy but it can do it with no issues.)

Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase from SFbags and I would heartily recommend them.
