Hi,

I've been trying to add Airplay receiver functionality to my iMac G3, and I've found one solution but it lags out... Airserver works in Tiger, but it becomes choppy. Right now I'm trying to install Shairport but the whole idea of compiling something is too much to wrap my head around... does anyone have any solutions that I might be missing? Is there anything I can do to optimize Airserver?

Hi,

A few years back I asked a similar question, and despite @eyoungren literally suggesting AirServer first, I think I overlooked it somehow. Anyway, I have used Shairport on a Raspberry Pi, and it's pretty straightforward for installing if I remember right, but I think you need Xcode and a bunch of other things on Tiger or Leopard in order to get it to work there. I'm trying AirServer on Leopard now, and it works with older iOS versions and iTunes on Mojave at least (so probably also older versions). My playback seems to be smooth.

Is your iMac connected via ethernet?

I do have the iMac connected through ethernet, which is why I'm so stumped as to why it's lagging. Also, I've been able to use Airserver win iOS 13- maybe something changed
