Share desktop icons between desktops on different displays

Hi

When you create a new desktop on the host machine the desktop icons are shown and shared between the desktops However, when using desktops on an external monitor the desktop icons from the host machine aren't shown. Is there anyway to overcome this issue? I haven't been able to find an option in system preferences to enable this.
