iPhone Share ETA - imessage / text vs. Maps notification

on iOS 13.0, I would get a friend's Share ETA message as an imessage, which I would also see on my watch.

But then with 13.1, I'm only getting it as a Maps notification on the phone but that notification doesn't get received on the watch (there's no option for "mirror my iphone" for the corresponding watch notification setting).

Is there any way to force it to send as an imessage again? Even if it doesn't get sent to the watch, i'd still prefer it as a message rather than a maps notification

I'm wondering this too. For a lot of situations, I would prefer to have it sent as iMessage, since it then doesn't require the other person to have to keep watching Maps to monitor progress. I wish it showed both Maps and iMessage option for each contact, or at least let you swipe across the contact and toggle the method.
