Share External Disk with Host Machine Locally

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is a way of sharing a disk connected to Windows XP on WMWare Fusion 3 with the host Mac without connecting to a network. Is there a way to make the VM think that there's a local network between the computer and the VM without connecting to a wi-fi network?
