How do i share files from osx 10.5.5 to Windows XP?

They are in the same network but windows xp can't find my mac

i also want to share mac drive so that i can watch dvds on windows xp because my xp machine doesn't have the dvd drive.

i don't want to setup a password or anything like that i just want the simple file sharing from mac to pc.

Thanks

System Preferences>Sharing>File Sharing>Options>Check "Share files and folders using SMB". Then, on the previous screen, add the folders you want to share. They should show up on the Windows PC somewhere in the network section of Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).

doesn't quite work for me, all I can see is the "drop box" folder that is there by default. I can read shares fine from my iMac on my MBP though.

Did you check (an) account(s) to allow access on the Sharing -> Options page?

I think so but the shares don't show up at all in windows. I haven't quite got the hang of the accounts in the sharing panel. Also, is there a quick way to share a folder and set the permissions of its contents in one step?
