I maintain my main Music (iTunes) Library containing all my purchased, matched, and Apple Music downloaded on my MacBook Pro (with a separate backup on an external RAID). Both because of space reasons (large library) and since I painfully learned that Match backs up everything including imported CD Rips, Losless and HighRes files as compressed 256kb versions, I have started to keep my ripped CDs, purchased Lossless (mainly CD Quality, some High Res files) on an external drive. I still import them into iTunes to have them matched and to listen to when travelling, commuting, driving etc. And in most circumstances that's absolutely fine. However, I wonder if it is possible to access the folder (which is usually always connected to a Mac in turn connected to the home network) via Cambridge Audios StreamMagic system which enables access to Music Servers and NAS. I haven't really got around to investing into a NAS as in 90% of situations I am happy streaming files via Airplay. But I like to play around and would love to test this as an alternative to connecting. the Mac to the Streamer via USB-B.
