Share internet with lit close

I just got a 2011 MBP and is sharing internet with it.

Problem: If the MBP is plug with magsafe then i can lose the lit and still able to share wifi. But when it's not plug with magsafe then it won't share wifi. Is there a way around this?

Sorry for the confusion.

I am trying to share the internet through wifi with my MBP when the magsafe is NOT plugged in.
