I would like to compare mbpr13 (2016,2017) TB battery discharge curves.
This is the only way to gauge if all of them are terrible or some of our laptops are behaving odd.

So if your using your Mac on battery, please take a screenshot of the curve in activity monitor.
I will post mine in few hours.

It depends on the usage scenario, but based on the statistics of a hundred MBPr 13" TB 2016, 2017 - the average running time is 5:30h.
Yes of course.
But my usage didn't change from mbpr13 2014 model. Its exactly the same, but my battery life has halved.

I see 5 hours average, which falls flat compared to apple estimate.

What specifically are you using/running on your MBP? If you're using a CPU or GPU intensive program (anything from Adobe or FCPX, etc.) then your battery life is going to be shorter.

My everyday use is same for 2014 model and for 2017 model. One lasts 9 hours and the other 5.
It doesn't matter what I'm running, what matters is that I do same work on both and get different results. Same work means same apps.

And no, I don't use adobe apps.

I run same exact linux virtual machine on both.

The 2017 model does have a significantly smaller battery (72 vs 49 Wh), so depending on the use case (even if the use is the same on both machines) it's entirely possible that the new MBP delivers worse battery life.
