SHared Computer File Transfer Speed

I'm currently considering a N spec router to add to my network, I currently have a 2.4ghz iMac and a new Macbook Air and I often transfer files between them. I was just wondering if using a N router instead of my common linksys G router will result in faster file transfer speeds between my 2 computers over the network. If so, how much faster will transfers be?
