I am new to Mac computers so I was wondering about the shared devices.

I noticed the other and today, there was a device under the Shared that I did not know what it was.

My wifi is password protected and WPA2. I had never seen this before under Shared.

Usually there is my iPhone, iPad, and another computed hooked up to the WiFi, and this was the first time seeing this device under shared.

Here is a link to the screen shot http://i49.tinypic.com/vpi9fs.png

Does this mean this device was sharing files from/with my computer?
Is there a way to disable this?

Looks like some PC is connected to your network. You can tell by the blue screen of death.

LOLbluescreen.

So, that just means that computer is using my WiFi?
The laptop that is being used is a Windows but, this is the first time it's showed up on my Shared.

I changed my WiFi password though.

Could this be a security risk?
I am just confused about how Shared work.

That Windows PC probably has some file sharing going on. That doesn't mean that YOU are sharing stuff; you have to turn that on in System Preferences>Sharing. But the stuff you mentioned shares your network, although not necessarily your computer. It's like the Network window in Windows.

And you can go to Finder>Preferences and choose what's shown in that sidebar if you want.

So that means no files are being shared with me based off those settings?

Does that just stop it from showing up, or disables it?
Sorry I am just confused if that PC was trying to share with my computer
