Hello all,

I have a new Mac Pro with a 1tb SSD drive with two partitions. A boot/system partition of approximately 250gb and a shared data partition of 750tb. Here's the thing, my shared volume goes hidden nearly every day or every other day. I can unhide it from the terminal by running chflags nohidden /Volumes/"SHARED FILES" but it keeps happening!

The shared files partition is accessed by 5 Macs(running 10.9) and one Windows machine. All the machines are joined to an active directory domain. On the Mac Pro, the Server app is installed and used just for file sharing. The users are all set to have read and write permission with the local account used on the Pro is the owner.

I am at a loss as to why this drive keeps on going hidden. The drive is still accessible, command +K, click on it and it opens in finder, and read/write permissions are unaffected, it's just that the SHARED FILES entry in Finder is greyed out as is the desktop icon. When I unhide it from the terminal, it leaves a null drive icon on the desktop of the client machines and a duplicate that works. The null drive icon is not ejectable and stays there until the machine in logged off and back on again.

What can cause a drive or volume to suddenly go hidden and how can I prevent this from happening

Thank you all in advance
