First time mac user here.. be gentle:D

I have a few shared drives on my network and found out if i add them to the startup they would automatically show when i log on. When i put the mac to sleep (i have a macpro) and reawaken all the shared drive icons disappear, and takes a log off and log on to restore them.

Is there anyway round this, or if i'm not using the mac for a few hours should i bother putting it to sleep or just leave it on with the screen saver? would that be ok?

thanks

My drives don't disappear after sleep. That said, different setups could behave differently in this situation. What protocol are you using?

Here are some other people with the same problem:

I'm not sure what advice to give you, except for turning sleep off (or not using it). It won't hurt your Mac that much as long as you allow the hard disk/s to sleep and put the display to sleep as well.

Good luck.

not sure what you mean by protocols, but its not that big an issue to log off and on again, doesn't take 2 ticks!!

thanks for the help
