Shared Folder Disappears From Finder when I Shutdown/Restart my iMac 10.9.2.....The only way I can get it back is by Opening "Finder" Choose "Go" From the "Finder" bar and choose "Recent Folders" and open it from within.....If I connect a new shared folder it is not in there to select.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Have any other members come across this one ?

Hi,

not sure to exactly understand what the problem is.

Here is a workaround :

In Finder, do : Cmd + Shift + g

Type : /users/shared

Click on "Go"

Now drag the Shared folder to the Finder's sidebar, in "Favorites".

It should stay here and allow you to have a quick and easy access.

It's a shared Network Folder.
I tried what you said Bruno09......No joy.
Thanks for the help.

Ok sorry, I hadn't understood what you meant.

However, the same workaround might help :

If the network volumes do not automatically mount, mount them manually (Finder / Go...), then drag any folder of the volume to the Finder's sidebar (Favorites).

Then, clicking on that folder in the sidebar should force the network volume to mount and appear in the "Shared" section.

(to test, eject the volume then click on the folder to see if the volume mounts again).

Not sure exactly what you mean..Could you be a bit more specific....I'm an ex Bill Gates man.

Thanks.

1. When you have "PopcornHour" in the "Shared" section of the Finder's sidebar, click on it to highlight it, then select any folder in PopcornHour and drag it to the "Favorites" section of the Finder's sidebar.

Test :

2. Eject "PopcornHour" by clicking the arrow against the disk name.

3. In "Favorites", click on the folder you have dragged in step 1 : this should cause the "PopcornHour" volume to mount and appear in the "Shared" section.

(sorry I have poor English).

I've followed your instructions. But, when I try to drag a folder from the popcornhour, the folder does not drag at all. If I try to drag it into a subfolder under favourites, the link doesn't work?

English is fine....Regards.

I don't have a "Places" section in the "Finder" Sidebar......Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

"Places" is now : "Favorites".

"Add, remove, and rearrange items in the sidebar :

To add a file or folder to the sidebar, drag its icon to the Favorites section. To add an application, hold down the Command (⌘) key while you drag its icon.
To remove an item from the sidebar, hold down the Command (⌘) key and drag the item’s icon out of the sidebar. Although the icon disappears, the original is still in its place on your computer.
You can’t remove items from the Shared section.

To rearrange items, drag to where you want them in the sidebar.

Tried to follow the instructions below, but it will not go to the Favourites folder.......Any other ideas ?

Thanks.
