Shared network computers

I have a question about sharing a network. I have a Macbook Pro that I connect wirelessly to an 802.11g Router. My mom's desktop PC is connected to the router, but through an ethernet cable from the modem. Do both machines have to be connected wirelessly for my mom's computer to show on mine? Her's is old so it cannot be connected wirelessly.
