I have a Canon Pixma 310MX attached via USB to an iMac running Mountain Lion which is shared via my local network at home.
I have a MBP running Snow Leopard and I can print to the shared printer. However I have no access to the preferences (color, bypass tray etc..). It would always print in color t the best quality.
Based on some suggestions from another thread I installed the Canon drivers on the MBP. I now have access to "some" of the preferences (color matching, paper handling, scheduling etc..) however I am still missing the important ones like quality and media (e.g. ability to print to B&W fast draft).
Any suggestions as to how to get full access to the printer options?
Thx..

Sometimes you just need to talk it out loud I think.
I went to the Printer Prefs on the MBP and remove the shared printer. Then re added it. When I did I noticed the pull down at the bottom of the window indicating what drivers to use. I selected the recently installed 310 drivers.
I now have access to all the prefs...
