Shared Reminders alert function

Funny that I just noticed this, but when setting an alert for a reminder on a shared list only sets the alert for the person setting it. The other person(s) see the event but if they open it is shows Remind Me (iOS) as never.

Has this always been like that? Now I know why my wife never said anything about reminders I put on the list.

I am also looking for a solution to this problem. Anyone know if this is possible?
