Shared tab missing from Sidebar? Help!

Hello, usually the shared tab, which lists other computers (windows and mac) connected to my network, always appears on the sidebar every time I'm online. But it has been missing for the past few days. I tried various suggested workarounds to no result, which include checking the shared tab in finder preferences, pull the sidebar plist, allow filesharing smb etc.

Is there any "ultimate" fix for this issue? Many thanks in advance.

Btw, I'm on Macbook Unibody, 10.5.8.
