I use sharepod to manage the music on my iPhone (3Gs) as I find it a hell of a lot better then iTunes.
However I seem to have hit a wall when adding ringtones, I know I have done it before, I just can't remember exactly how.

It was something like this:
:apple:Use audacity to trim the song I wanted to use as a ringtone down to 30 seconds, and to add an out fade etc
:apple:Export as .MP3
:apple:Use WinFF to convert the .mp3 file tp .m4a
:apple:Drag this .m4a into sharepod
:apple:Rename the .m4a to .m4r and then drag this into sharepod
:apple:Tada you have a ringtone

Now this isn't working so I am ovbiously doing something wrong, does anyone know what that might be?
It's annoying knowing that I have done it before but now can't figure out how :(

Or does anyone know of another way to add ringtones to the iPhone WITHOUT using iTunes (I'm trying to avoid syncing with iTunes due to the fact I last synced on a now dead computer and I don't want to lose all my texts etc)?
