The Shared feature in the leopard sidebar is great, when it works but it seems to rarely do.
What exactly is it's problem? I have computers on 24/7, both macs and PC's running XP. On the Leopard macs the sidebar seem to change often, relaunching finder will often make my networked PCs suddenly appear. But most of the time only one of my PCs is listed, depsite me being able to connect to all the others using the command-K function.
Also, sometimes I'll be able to connect to the IP address, but the alias that does appear in the sidebar is useless.
Is there an apple document somwhere on the shared feature in the sidebar? It's beginning to drive me mad and I can't seem to find a concrete answer as to just what is going on. It would make me feel a lot better if I even knew just what the bug is, but there doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern. It's like pure luck as to what will appear in the sidebar on a given day.
I know I can connect to all my shares using command-k and then typing the IP but I would love the sidebar feature to actually work as intended.
