I am having some issues with my iPhone 4 and iPad2. I have just downloaded and purchased MyWi 4.60.6 on my iPhone 4. My iPhone 4 is currently on 4.2.1 and I don't plan to go up to 4.3 just yet, so I require MyWi to create a Wifi hotspot to share my 3G connection with.

I can easily create a wifi network with MyWi, however to conserve battery I would rather connect and share via Bluetooth.

I have tried to pair my iPhone 4 to my iPad2 via Bluetooth but I continuously get the message I am unable to connect - ensure it's in range and turned on. Is this normal?!

I see that MyWi has a new OnDemand feature that looks really cool but cannot yet be used on ipad2 as you cannot jailbreak the ipad2 yet. That is meant to use Bluetooth so why can't I Bluetooth tether without my ipad2 jail broken?

Is it normal for people to be unable to tether between these two devices? The weirdest thing is that the very first time u tried to tether the two, I did get given a passcode on both devices- but ever since it's failed to pair...

Maybe my iPad Bluetooth is faulty?

Any advice welcome

With bluetooth enabled on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4, when attempting to pair from my iPhone, it states:

Pairing Unsuccessful - "iPad" is not supported

When attempting to pair from the iPad, it states:

Connection Unsuccessful - Make sure "iPhone" is turned on and in range.

This doesn't seem normal.... :(

I think you're in the wrong forum to ask that type of question. I believe you'll have more success in the iPhone hack part of MacRumers. I found some pretty interesting and compelling info in there for your situation.

Basically you have to have both devices jail broken in order to activate the ondemand within miwi. The Ondemand is the bluetooth setting for both devices which allows the iPad and iPhone to connect. Unfortunately you have to wait for a jailbreak to come out for the iPad 2. Until then, you have to use the wifi hotspot to enable tethering.

Oh Ok, so you cannot pair an iPhone 4 with an iPad 2 via Bluetooth? even if you don't plan to tether an internet connection?

I have the same setup as you, also had an iPad that I used MyWi OnDemand with. I'll be able to answer your question when I get home in a few minutes.

Thanks dude, great name by the way!

It's weird because the first ever time I tried it, I got the code popup as if it was pairing correctly. I saw the auth code on both devices. Ever since, they will not pair at all, irrispective of internet tethering.

I am not sure the iPhone forum is any more appropriate than this forum?!

try the iPad hacks section, the jailbreakers with knowledge are in there.

i can pair my iPad 2 wifi only to my iPhone 4 by bluetooth but i have proper tethering via Personal Hotspot, tho to be honest, i don't think blutooth has as good a speed as wifi, or maybe was just my bad luck

Well, I swapped my ipad2 for a replacement and the new one pairs and thanks to MyWi on my iPhone 4, it receives Internet from my iPhone over Bluetooth! So yes, you should be able to bluetooth pair iphone4 and ipad2 :)
