I have an HP Photosmart printer (the one Apple gave with the rebates last year) and would like to share it on my network. I have a MBA and a MBP and the printer is connected to the MBP via USB. How would I use printer sharing to enable the MBA to print wirelessly to the printer?

from memory

On the MBP
go to preferences, Sharing
in Sharing go to Printer Sharing and tick it
Make sure the HP printer in Printer sharing is for 'everyone can print'
apply

On the MBA

go to Preferences, Print and Scan
in Print and Scan use the plus sign to 'add a nearby printer'
select the HP (it should be showing up as a nearby printer)
expect a minute or two delay while you sit watching an obtaining software dialog
if all goes well you should now have a share

Not sure if your network is wireless or wired only but it is a lot easier if you have a wireless network then just connect the printer directly to the router via USB. That way you can also print and keep the ability to not have the printer connected to a computer all the time.

Perfect! Just set it up now and worked flawlessly. Thank you!

It's wireless and there is a USB port but the hassling I went through to try maintaining it is not worth it.
