Hello all! Since I've been given good help in the past from other Forum members, I would just like to share this one and hopefully pass the help to another who needs it.
I have a Wacom Cintiq 21UX and I use it with a Mac. For those who need help on how to connect a Wacom Cintiq to a Mac equipped with the Mini DisplayPort, here's what you will need:
Wacom Cintiq 21 UX.
Mac with Mini DisplayPort.
Kanex iAdapt DVI Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D.
The Kanex iAdapt DVI is a necessary adapter because the Wacom Cintiq comes with a DVI connector.
Apple sells a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. DO NOT use this! It will work, but my experience is that the Cintiq would display streaks and blinking pixels when using this brand of adapter. It gets even worse when I wake the Mac up from sleep; the streaks would cover almost all of the screen display of the Cintiq and the only way to improve it was to repeatedly turn the Cintiq on and off until the streaks and blinking pixels would tone down a bit.
Another issue is that menu texts of applications displayed on the Cintiq would look blurry and not sharp, as if the Cintiq was not displaying them in the right resolution.
Initially, I thought my Cintiq was having some issues. However, when I called up Wacom Support, they told me that this is a known issue when using the Apple brand adapter. Instead, they recommended the Kanex iAdapter DVI . They said that this is the adapter that they actually use in their own offices.
I have since replaced the Apple adapter with the Kanex brand and can attest that it indeed is a much better adapter. Immediately after switching one adapter with another and rebooting my Mac, the Cintiq display cleared up. There were no streaks or blinking pixels any more and text and images were much sharper.
Hope this helps those who may be experiencing the same issues with their Cintiqs connected to a Mac or for those who are just setting up one and need to know what kind of adapter to get.
