Hello,
I have a question about Samba sharing. I hope I'm on the right forum, please move this thread somewhere else if it isn't.
Basically, I would like to share a folder with windows/linux users. The thing is, I don't want to share it with everyone on the network. So I thought I'd make a 'Sharing' account for them in Accounts, so they can use that to log in to Samba and view the files.
Now, the thing is: when I make a sharing account and add that account to the Folder's Users in File Sharing, it doesn't work. When I make the account Standard and add that to File Sharing -> Folder -> Options Samba's accounts, it does work (I think, haven't tried it yet). I can't do this with a sharing account. I don't want a standard account, because then they would have their own account on my computer, it's merely just for sharing.
I hope you can follow my problem.
Does anyone know how this works and how I can set it up properly?
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5 on an Aluminium MacBook (5.1).
Thanks very much!
Heleen
