Hello dear readers,

I’ve set up an iPhone as a child/guardian for a relative with dementia.

This was brilliant so far, because it saved us multiple times from lost phones or even lost person.

Now the keys are getting lost. I’ve purchased an AirTag and thought I could set it up and share it with us “guardians”, but the child iPhone setup won’t let me do that.

It also looks like that I can’t set up the AirTag with our iPhones and share it with the child iPhone in reverse.

What would you suggest or does anyone else had these issues and found a probable solution?

If I set it up as my AirTag but a relative will use it, they’ll get notifications all the time, right?

I’m baffled as I was really hoping it would be easier.

Oh and the reason I set the phone up as child was because I read on the internet to do it that way to prevent any purchases or settings going wrong.

Many thanks for your help!

I assume you're trying to share the 'child' air tag with the 'grown up' account? This Apple Support document appears to clarify things. I read that as saying you can't share your Air Tag with a 'child'.

Probably means you can't then share a child's Air Tag with a 'grown up'?
