Not sure if this would go on the Windows forum or here, so I'm taking a guess and putting it here.
I'm in a dorm right now and they only let you register one system on the network. I know it's possible to use a PC with two NIC cards to share a connection, but since my PC was sick when they cleared the network registry at the beginning of the last semester I put my Mac on.
I'm getting the good old college run-around trying to get the PC registered instead (it's a desktop and I know I can share it's connection to the Mac laptop), but in the mean time I'm trying to share the Mac's wired connection over wifi and it's just not working.
The PC can't connect at all if there is a password on the network I create on the Mac, and if there isn't (something I DO NOT want to do) it can only connect locally, it can't see an internet connection. Also, if there is a password, I can't get it to ASK ME FOR THE PASSWORD. Seriously, I would think that would be a normal thing, but Vista doesn't even ask me for it, it just says no!
A router or access point is NOT an option here.
Anyone have any thoughts on how to solve this?
