iPod Sharing an iPod across the network?

Is it possible to add/remove items from an iPod that is connected to a machine that's on the same network?

It's weird. If I say to share it, other iTunes can see my iTunes while it is running. Alternate programs can't see it, and I can't find the other shared iTunes to know who has it (unless I recognize the name).

I've had my share of blue screen of death if I play more than songs.

Purchased songs ask for iTunes passwords, ripped songs don't.
