I saved an audio file on my Google Drive account, thinking I could listen to it on the iPad, using the Google Drive app. Doesn't work.

How do you share audio files using Google drive to listen to on iPad?

You need a 3rd party app that plays mp3s (or the format you choose) and get Drive to open the file in the other app and play it there. Drive doesn't have a media player of any kind. On the computer it uses the included media players.

Phone Drive (for example) opens music imported from Drive. A search of the app store should show a bunch of file managers that play video/audio and then you use the "open in..." function.

If you get the Google Play Music app, you can store up to 20,000 songs in Google's music cloud and then play it back. It's free.
