Hi all, I have been going through threads and googling most of the night and see lots about file sharing between a pc and mac, but not much about mac to mac issues. Probably because usually file sharing between macs on a Lan is fairly easy. Anyway, I am getting either connection time outs or a very slow connection if it does connect when I try to share files between my iMac and MBP.
For the history, the mbp is running 10.5.5 and connecting wireless, (although I have the same results if connected via ethernet cable), and the iMac is connected via ethernet cable to the AEBS and also running 10.5.5. The mbp is about 3 weeks old, the imac is a G5 with a fresh install of Leopard after doing a erase and install. Before the Leopard install the imac was running 10.4.11 and file sharing was working fast with perfect connections every time. The problem started after upgrading the imac to Leopard. Now I either receive connection timeouts or if I can connect from one computer to the other it is extremely slow. I have file sharing set up to share via afp (also tried ftp) on both machines and each machine sees the other in Finder as it should. I first thought it may be a firewall issue, but the problem persists even if I turn the firewall to allow all connections. The rest of my network connections are normal, i.e. connecting to the internet from either machine, itunes, mail, ect. I have tried the usual reboots, turned file sharing off and back on, reset the aebs, different settings for the firewall and file sharing. There have been no other changes to my network or any of my hardware other than the imac going from Tiger to Leopard. Has anyone else seen this issue or have any other ideas? Thanks in advance for your help. Back to trouble shooting I go.
