My husband and I both work from home on two iMacs, we need to share files - they are stored on his Mac and I need to open them in Dreamweaver (html editor) amend them and save them back again.

I can open them and edit them but I cannot then save them!

The permissions are set on his Mac for sharing read & write??

This in turn is creating another issue - because I can't do what seems logical above I have to copy the entire folder of files, change them as necessary & save them, then copy the entire folder back to his Mac to preserve continuity and so he can also work on them. BUT this is then somehow locking some files (not all and not necessarily the ones I've worked on) and he can't then edit them even when stored on his Mac.

Ideas to resolve the first issue ideally and an answer to why it's doing the second problem??

Thanks

I'm no expert but have you tried Dropbox? Here is a link to what I think you are asking:

Just click on instructions for using a Mac at the top of page. Of course you have to add Dropbox on tour Macs but it is free.
