Hi I'm not sure if this is even possible so please don't think I'm being stupid, I honestly just don't know.

I picked up an iMac G3 and I would like to share some files with my iBook G4. I don't have Dial-Up networking nor an Ethernet port in my home, and the iMac lacks an AirPort card. Can I share files using a cable used for Dial-Up (for the time being, but I will get a FireWire 400 cable soon)? I mean like physically connecting one end of the cable into my modem in my iMac and the other end into the modem in my iBook.

Thanks in advance!

You need an Ethernet (CAT5, RJ45) cable between the Ethernet ports, but the "modem" cable will not work.
