Sharing installer would this work?

Hi,

So we have a terrible internet connection so would this work: two macs that can both run yosemite need to upgrade. I download the installer on the one, click download on the other, enter apple id password but cancel it. This way it will appear under purchased tab so the account technically has yosemite attached to it. Can I then take the installer from the first mac and airdrop it to the other and use it? It would save sooo much download time.
