Hi
I hope someone can help me and that this isn't too stupid a question. I got my new Macbook Pro yesterday and very nice it is too. However, I don't have a wireless router at the moment, so I thought I would share my iMac's ethernet connection.
The first problem I had was that I couldn't password protect the network. I was able to access the internet connection and share files, but the when I tried to enter the password on the Macbook, it said 'incompatible security'.
Anyway, I solved this somehow, seemingly without actually doing anything, but now I have a seperate problem. I can transfer files from Macbook to iMac perfectly, but when I try to do it the other way round the process is so slow it's unbelievable. I don't understand why it was fine without a password, but as soon as I got the password to work, the file sharing suffered.
I had thought that maybe turning off internet sharing would speed up the file sharing, but I haven't been able to test this yet because I'm at work. Does this sound like a possible solution to anyone? Does anyone know what the problem is?
