Sharing photos, music, videos, etc!

Hi

We have used Macs for years, but as an expanding family/small business we need to look at how to share documents/music files/photos/etc easily and efficiently.

We have a Macbook, timecapsule and iPad and are looking to buy a MacBook Air as well. I want to be able to put the big files (music, video and photos) on one machine and have them (easily) accessible to all devices. What is my best option? I am not sure whether i need a dedicated server (e.g. buy a mac mini running Lion server) or could i use the existing MacBook with Lion and put the big stuff on that. Is there another option (e.g. a hard drive attached to the timecapsule?) or other solution?

Any direct advice (or links to useful info) would be much appreciated.

It's possible to use Time Capsule as an FTP server, meaning that it can be accessed over the internet.

You don't even need FTP if they are all in the same network and it's enough that the files can be accessed while at home.
