Now that we can create our own ringtones in garageband, dont you think it'd be a great idea to have a way to share ringtones online and preview and download ringtones that others have made? kinda like the list of applications/widgets/iphone web apps currently on the apple website. maybe they could be distributed through itunes?:)

most ringtones people make won't be "legal" ... its a stupid law that i don't agree with ... but due to the fact, I doubt we'll see apple joining in on this..

If you have a .mac account you can share your GarageBand made ringtones. I just posted a public folder download page using the homepage feature on the .mac page. My friend who is using a PC then went on and downloaded them and iTunes automatically imported them as ringtones and then synced them to his iPhone.

Care to share? :)

thats the kinda stuff i'm talking about....people who are experienced with garageband will be able to make awesome ringtones...share!:)

Here's the deal... I currently have iLife '05 on my Mac but everything else is current. Meaning that I am running Leopard, iTunes 7.5, etc.

Now, does anyone know if I have a friend who has iLife '08 make a ringtone for me that I will be able to easily import the ringtone onto my Mac and iTunes will then be able to recognize it and send it to my iPhone?

Now do I just go File>Import... in iTunes?

Double-click it and it should add to your ringtones folder.

If not, drag it onto the iTunes icon and it should add to your ringtones folder.

Then sync.

Here's another, for those people you don't want to know are calling. Silence.
