My friend has noticed something with his mac. he has file sharing on and ftp on. When he's logged out, he says his friend can still ftp in and see stuff. I thought that when you logg out, all services you're running are killed. If this is not the case, then can people still access MY shared folders while i'm logged out? thanks.

ps. this is in OSX
 
of coarse you can.

you need to remember, we are UNIX now.

you can remotely log in a root, mary, jane, whomever, whenever.

just as you can telnet to your sun and other *nix servers. you are not logged in at the physical server ever there.

that is what is so great about X.
