All iPads Sharing Wifi with iPad connected to ethernet?

I have an iPad attached to a Belkin ethernet adapter (for a cabled Internet connection) and wonder if it's possible to create a Wifi network from this (so other devices can go online wirelessly)?
I couldn't find any option for this in the iPad's "settings" neither in "Wifi" nor "Ethernet" so is this a hidden possibility or can't it be done on an iPad (unlike on Macs which have a "sharing" system preference for this option.

You could try creating a device hotspot.

Sounds good, but how do I do that?
I did some web-searching and it seems that a personal hotspot is only for sharing a cellular connection via Wifi to other devices. But you're saying I can share an ethernet connection via Wifi as well?

Where would I set this up on the iPad which has the ethernet connection?

Seems like that was an off-the-cuff suggestion.

I don't know of a way…I don't even think I've seen it in jailbreaking.

I would imagine that users wanting to achieve those results would get an ethernet to wifi hotspot-type device.

I use a RAVPower FileHub in hotels with Ethernet connections to create a local WiFi network that supports up to five devices. Works great when I do that and it sounds like something similar could do the job for you. $60 at Amazon -

This can be done on a Mac through 'Sharing > Internet Sharing' however as far as I know, this has not been ported to the iPad - I'd suggest using something like @sparksd has recommended above

Agree on the not-with-the-iPad hotspot comments - I don't believe it's possible, either.

I don't think that'll work. OP will probably need a switch so every device gets its own IP address.

You're right on the splitter - it would need a true switch. I've used this one-

Surely a router and connecting wirelessly is a more simple and reliable solution than hacking together a wired connection.

I've been in conditions where WiFi was not available but Ethernet was. Or the WiFi was so poor as to be unusable but Ethernet was an option. Why I always take a travel router with me when traveling.

I'd say why not just go with an ethernet to wifi hotspot to which the iPad and everything else can connect? You don't need the Ethernet to Lightning adapter in this case. I think a wifi hotspot would be cheaper than the adapter is.
