No, the article author was being coy. Further information would probably only be helpful to apple. They're not going to explain what it was that they figured it out.

As you can see, the vulnerability was probably successfully exploited about a month ago. Comex figured out that pdf vulnerability way before the release of Star, and had a lot more time to prepare if I'm not mistaken.

tempusfugit - exactly. They wanted to let people know that it was still coming, but they also didn't want to give too many details to Apple. Apple will know soon enough and fix the exploits. They wanted to give people an idea of what was involved, without being too technical. Remember, these people are coders and some (not all) have difficulties speaking at a level that most of us here (especially me) are at.
