Shazam has today been updated with a new design, notifications for missed or offline Shazams, global trending Charts, and sync improvements.

Shazam 14.2 brings a refreshed look to the music-discovery app, with a simpler swipe-up card to access your past Shazams and an improved design. Shazam will now actively search for a user's missed or offline Shazams and notify them when they are found.

In addition, users can see what is trending with Charts, now available in Search, to see what is trending globally. The feature provides specific trending lists with up to 200 top songs for countries, and even specific cities, around the world.

There have also been improvements to sync for both Apple Music and Spotify users. For Apple Music, the app will now sync more of users' past Shazams, and if a user deletes a song in Apple Music, it will not be added again by Shazam. For Spotify, the app will now find and sync more new Shazams. If Spotify users lose connection, Shazam will now attempt to sync again during the next Shazam search.

Apple acquired Shazam in 2018, and has been gradually bringing the app into closer alignment with Apple Music ever since.

Update: Apple has also launched Shazam as a web app for this first time at shazam.com, as spotted by 9to5Mac. The website has launched in beta and is currently only compatible with Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on macOS and Chrome OS, allowing users to check Charts and identify music directly from a browser.

Shazam is one of my favourite apps just because I can be out and hear a piece of music that I love and would otherwise have no chance of identifying.

However... there needs to be a way to save your searches to a personalised account. When my phone last crashed it lost years of searches and there's no cloud account to retrieve them from.

There's an easy solution for that! I just sync my Shazams to a Spotify playlist. Then when I Shazam a song, it shows up in Spotify.

The design looks same as last version for me.. unless I am missing something. Anyone still on last version before this version released?

iCloud sync has been available on Shazam for quite a while.

I want Apple to do more system tie in with Shazam. I like that it's in the Control Center view now, but I would love it if it acted more like the Pixel and just did ambient listening and would display songs playing without me having to ask it to .

Long Press the scan button. It'll continue to listen (using on-board microphones only).

I'd love for the code in Shazam to use the microphones from the on-board sound output device. Lots of times I'm listening to a track on SoundCloud and I'd like Shazam to search for the track I'm listening to over my AirPods Pro.

Apple needs to be careful about deep integration of Shazam into iOS. Shazam is the market leader in song detection and on both Android and iOS/iPadOS platforms, so any integration should be equal to avoid any monopolis criticism. Not in the current state of affairs about Apple in public light.

CarPlay support would be nice please Apple, I want to be able to recognise songs as I drive in my car with the radio on.

The design looks the same for me as well. I don’t know where they’re getting that it has changed; it’s not in the release notes.

I think they have an option to always listen in the background. I think it's a horrible option privacy-wise but if you don't mind...

I have iCloud sync with Shazam set up on my phone. I had a major crash where I had to factory reset everything. My Shazam tracks weren't recovered. I've just gone into it now and it asked me if I want to use iCloud sync (it's on in Settings). I said yes. And I'm now Syncing to a Spotify playlist.

I think I need to play with this some more.

Isn’t this possible now with Shazam in Control Center. I’ve been able to Shazam while exclusively on my phone hearing a song and been successful.
