Which is best at tagging music for the value?

Shazam used to be free, but now you can only tag 5 songs a month, and you can get unlimited if you buy the full version which costs $5.99.

I'm not sure how Soundhound works, but it's free, and by looking at the iTunes page of it, it has a $4.99 In-App purchase, which I guess is the full version.

Anyway, which is best?

I use Soundhound..

Also I found that if you use it to id songs and you can't get results over a 2G network.. The solution is to let it hear only 4-5 seconds and it will work..

I keep both in a music folder. I go to Soundhound first, only because it starts immediately after launching.

But I keep both because it has different databases, and sometimes one can identify songs that the other can't. I got both when they were free, so I can't help you there.

Soundhound!! Plus it's a universal app!! :)

I use Soundhound because it's free. It finds pretty much all the songs I throw at it. If for some reason it doesn't find it I run the free version of Shazam but most of the time Shazam won't find it either.

let's see...

soundhound: free, unlimited, can even sing/hum, shows lyrics, shows youtube videos

shazam: paid, only identify songs

easy

Definitely SoundHound. I use to use Shazam but this just blows it out of the water.

I have both, sometimes one works for a song and the other does not. Unless you are an old person you shouldn't have to use it that much in a month jk :p

Soundhound all the way. Do people remember when it used to be called Midomi?

I use both but I got Shazam when it was free (and I for the longest time didn't realize they put a song limit on the free app cause apparently they grandfathered me into unlimited tagging too since i got it before that point) so no reason for me not to have both (as some one said, they have different databases so sometimes one can figure it out when the other cannot or gives you wrong results).

I'm not sure which one is more accurate/finds more songs. I've tested it and they seem about equal on accuracy and being able to find a song (and in general there's a good chance if one can't find it the other one can so it's not like if one can't find it most likely the other one cannot).

I prefer the Soundhound app a little more, but I do keep them both because of their different databases. Lately, Shazam has been identifying more of the songs.

Just keep them both and have a broader database.

I always kept Midomi and Shazam back in the day.

Thank goodness Midomi came back improved as Soundhound. The sing the song feature is always useful.

That feature reminds me of that Married With Children episode when Al Bundy had an old song stuck in his head.
