Shell/Desktop Replacement App?

Are there any cool apps that replace the way your desktop works for macs? An example on PCs would be something like SphereXP. I guess you could call it a shell replacement as well. I hope this makes since.

Nothing like what you have linked to here, but Virtue Desktops can be fun to play around with.
