Hey guys, I've dusted off my mini that's been sitting for a while. I'm still just 'playing around' learning OSX and all, but there's one snag that I've hit that is really annoying.

On my PC, (mainly while surfing), if I want to change the web address, I usually click on the end of the address, hit shift-home to highlight it and then just type the new address. From what I remember (I'm at work now), the little mini just beeps at me and doesn't highlight it.

Is there a mac equivalent to "highlight everything before the cursor"? This is also useful instead of highlighting via mouse drag in Word (err.. Pages).

Thanks for any help!!

Shift-Up will do what you want. Also a triple-click will select the entire address bar.

Unlike on a PC, Home/End on a Mac usually means the beginning and end of a page (or document), not the beginning or end of a line.

You can use cmd-shift-left arrow (play around with shift, cmd and opt plus the arrow keys for Pages and marking portions of text).

Additional tips: For highlighting the whole url, try cmd-L.

Also you can just click on the icon in the title bar and hit delete or just click on the icon and start typing the new address, it will automatically delete the address when you start typing.
