Shift key/Caps lock stops working randomly

Hi All

I have a brand new x-server running 10.5.5 server software. Only xcode, rapidsvn and an aja board have been installed. I have my normal PC keyboard connected via a KVM switch and a keyboard and mouse to USB adapter. Once it happens I can switch to my Linux, Windows, or another OS-X system and the uppercase works fine, but I cannot get uppercase letters until I restart the x-serve. Has anybody seen this, or have a solution?

Thanks for the idea, but I tried going direct to the USB converter and it still happened. I have not been able to try a real apple keyboard, as they are in use on other macs and my KVM does not support USB. Our dealer told me that the USB converter was supported with a regular PC 104 keyboard and the machine is too far away for a direct connect.
