Shift key gone crazy...help!

All of the sudden on Yosemite, when I hit the left shift key it acts as a shift/option press where I get symbols. I can't make a capital letter. The right shift works normally. I haven't changed anything recently and my keyboard is default US...any ideas?

Your keyboard has been damaged by water. It's pretty much hopeless. You need to replace your keyboard.
